A good turnout of 27 for this match, perhaps partly down to the mild weather.
I drew peg 51 which is a decent area with a good chance of a few bonus Bream.
I started by feeding a 13m line with a large ball of groundbait containing a handful of pinkies and a ball of groundbait with some maggots at 5m.
I then started by fishing a waggler at about 15m with corn, loose feeding a few grains of corn. Second cast the float disappeared and in came a little tench, unfortunately this and 1 roach later on were the only bites on the waggler.
After continuing on the waggler for 30 minutes and loose feeding maggots at 5m I tried this line with single maggot, plenty of bites here from small roach with the odd better roach and small skimmer, this lasted about 40 minutes then slowed down so I refed with groundbait and tried the 13m line.
Maggot/pinkie hook baits saw me catching a few small roach here too. Two hours into the match now and I really needed a bream or two as the roach were mostly small so I tried an expander on the hook over the 13m line and after a little wait away went the float and striking saw a fair bit of elastic shot out from the pole, the result was the hoped for bream of about 3lb. Next put in with expander again saw a similar result and I thought I might be on a winner but no more bream were forthcoming and the rest of the match was a struggle for me with very few bites.
I did manage a skimmer and a crucian on expander and a few more small roach.
I weighed in 11lb 7oz which gave me 3rd behind an 11-13 and a 13lb winning weight
