It snowed hard in the early hours and did not stop until 11am which prevented some from being able to get to the venue but we still had a turnout of 17.
The lake was almost entirely covered with an inch or two of slushy snow which made it difficult to get a rig in as you had to keep clearing it away so that a rig could be put in the water.
I just cleared as far as I could reach with the landing net with my XRS 3.8m handle on and used a 3m whip feeding a few maggots now and then by hand.
Match times today were 9.30 to 14.30, I missed a bite after 20 minutes and had to wait until just before 12pm for the next indication which produced a nice roach and next chuck a perch, that was it for an hour or so.
Between 1 and 2pm I had another roach and a perch then in the last 30 minutes 4 more perch. All my fish were around the same size except that last perch was a little chunkier.
My 8 fish gave me a weight of 2lb 9oz which gave me 4th in the match. 2 of the 3 better weights were boosted by a bonus perch of over a pound with the biggest fish prize going to 2nd placed Brian with a perch of 1lb 11oz, he also had a nice chub of nearly a pound.
