We all wanted to draw peg 23 or 11, I drew 17 which is in the far corner of the lake.
I started by feeding a line at 13m with a small ball of groundbait/micro pellets, 5m with a large ball of groundbait with a few maggots and to a platform along the bank which was also around 13m from me with pellets and corn.
Starting on the 13m line with an expander pellet for hookbait not much happened, odd little indication but no proper bites so I tried double maggot on the hook, first drop in with maggots I foul-hooked a carp in a pectoral fin but was fortunate enough to land it so a good and lucky bonus as it was about 7lb.
I tried the corn line with no bites then had a look for some silvers at 5m, I had a few roach and a skimmer here then tried the 13m line again with expander, I had one bite which was a nice skimmer but then no more bites.
The next time I tried the corn line I had a proper bite and my 2nd carp came to the net, this one I guessed at 4-5lb.
Andy on peg 23 was running away with the match with about a dozen carp so no catching him but from what I had heard 2nd so far was on about 20lb so with an hour to go I thought I needed another carp to get in the frame so sat it out for one but it did not happen.
My 2 carp plus a few silvers went 14lb 7 oz which put me 5th.
