I drew peg 19 which can be OK but a bit snaggy to the right where a spit of land sticks out into the lake just before it narrows down towards the end of the lake.
I set up a method feeder to chuck towards the spit, a pole line for carp down in the corner to my right, a pole line at 5m for skimmers/anything that swims and also had a 3m line slightly to my left where I would feed maggots and hemp for the roach.
Starting on the method feeder after a few casts I caught a decent skimmer which was not a bad start and not long after my rod was almost pulled in by a 3lb carp but no further action on this so started fishing the 5m line with meat on the hook. It took a while to get a bite but it produced a good skimmer then a carp which took a while to land on the light rig so I re-fed and tried the corner to my right for a while, no indications at all here so tried the feeder again without any more bites.
I then plugged away on the 5m line for some time picking up a few small carp.
With about 35 minutes to go I was struggling to get any bites so I fished for roach until the end of the match.
My 24lb 9oz was not going to get me in the frame today but it had been a nice days fishing and I ended up 11th out of 27.
