The last few times we have visited pegs 1 and 30 have been top 2 in the matches and it was close to a repeat this time with Nick on peg 29 winning and Jon on peg 1 2nd.
I drew peg 4 which can be very good but the fish had other ideas today, they just did not seem to come into the margins in the numbers they usually do and they would not settle on bait so it was just a case of picking off as many as you could when there were a few in the peg.
I started at 4m with 6mm hard pellets and it took me 25 minutes to get a fish, after another 30 minutes with no more bites I started fishing both sides in the margin, I would get a couple of carp come into the feed and sometimes I could catch 1 of them but then had to start the process again.
To begin with in the margins I fed pellet to my right and corn to my left, when this did not seem to be working I began feeding pellets and corn on both sides. I had a little good spell in the 4th hour but then the last hour was disappointing with only 2 carp at what we were all expecting to be the busiest hour.
I ended up with 17 carp which weighed 52lb 6oz, not what I was expecting from that peg. This put me 11th in the match.
