How End Fisheries is a nice mixed fishery and the lake we were fishing today was Yasi's which is well stocked with mainly Ide, Barbel and Carp.
For bait I had a couple pints of casters, the same of red maggots, some worms and a tin of corn.
After feeding a 5m line with hemp and casters and an 11m line with maggots, I started fairly tight to the far bank pinging casters. Over the first hour I tried maggots, casters and bits of worm as hookbaits but I could not get a bite and had not even had a liner. I then tried the 5m line fishing on the bottom and after a while I started catching an odd good sized Ide. At the 2 hour mark I had 4 or 5 good Ide but it was very slow going.
I had been loose feeding maggots to around 4m in my left margin so I tried there, fishing on the bottom I had an Ide and a couple of liners so I then picked up my far bank rig to try fishing shallow down the margin.
This was like flipping a switch, I started to catch big Ide fairly quickly and apart from one more late on from the 5m swim I caught the rest of my Ide from here.
Whilst fishing for the Ide with the shallow rig I managed to mug a couple of carp when a few cruised into my area.
My two carp went 6lb 10oz and the rest of my 49lb 6oz total was all Ide, this put me 3rd just ahead of a couple more weights in the 40s.
